Ian Wadley - three uneasy pieces cd

Wadley at The East Brunswick Club 21.12.2007

Things have been a little crazy of late, that time of year, so I have only just got around to getting my head around adding a post about the Ian Wadley - three uneasy pieces CD release on Sweatlung. After a year or so coming together this disc is finally back from the press.

3 tracks from Ian who has spent time performing with such acts as Bird Blobs, Small World Experience, Minimum Chips and Function. These track find Ian alone with his guitar.

Ian is performing live around Melbourne at the moment some shows with Simon Taylor (Whitehorse / EOH / Bone Sheriff etc) and he will also be performing at the upcoming All Tomorrows Parties curated by the Dirty Three.

Regulations in Melbourne

So Regulations from Sweden just toured Australia with Straightjacket Nation and the ruled pretty hard. Here are a few shots from a show they played at The Greenroom for Missing Link & Siren Visual end of year party with True Radical Miracle, Fabulous Diamonds and 731

Dad They Broke Me

One of my favorite Melbourne bands at the moment are Dad They Broke Me. Ultra heavy and totally crushing. Think Unsane, Jesus Lizard, Zeni Geva a touch of Eyehategod and and blasts of grind.

They have a s/t cd out on thier own label Broke Me Records, who also released a killer s/t cd from long running and totally awesome death-grinders Shagnum who feature 2 members of DTBM. They have also just recorded for a release on Missing Link Records.

Definately check out this band. They destroy!

Guantanamo Bay City Rollers

Here is a hand full of pics of a killer grind outfit from Adelaide, South Australia. Check out thier shit HERE. They have a killer demo and with any luck before too long the will have more. If you get the chance to see these guys I would highly recommend doing so.

Chris Smith Justin Fuller CD

Melbourne residents Chris Smith and Justin Fuller have been creating and documenting various forms of music together since the late 1990's.

Over seven years in the making, their new eponymous long-player takes in pre-occupations with austere, shimmering textures, maxist shuddering walls of noise, and many things between.

A broad and compelling approach in terms of sound-source and recording technique, any aspect suggesting theory or intellect is already overcome by brut physicality and lilting tear-jerkers.

That's right now available, if you would like to purchase a copy direct please email me at getonthehorse[no spam]@hotmail.com (remove the no spam). Copies will also be available in stores soon. I will update with links soon.

Ian Wadley
's "three uneasy pieces" CD will also be available sometime in the next week or so. Just waiting for the covers to return from the printer.

The Whitehorse CDs scheduled for release on Sweat Lung have now been scrapped as 20 Buck Spin Records will be releasing the material as a part of a 2 cd collection of Whitehorse material sometime early 2007.

Other releases scheduled for release on Sweat Lung in 2007 include works from Malakat , EOH, Justice Yeldam and more.

Cooper / Baxter & Justice

Last Friday night I headed down to Pony to catch performances by Rod Cooper & Sean Baxter and the always amazing Justice Yeldham here is a few photos of the event.

Rod Cooper appears in a film called Sticky Carpet about the Melbourne music scene which should be released in the not too distant future by Siren Visual.

Sean Baxter and a pile of percussion.

Rod Cooper manipulates his sound device, this produced some amazing sounds.

Mass Traumatic Saturday Night.

Ok. So Sydney's Masstrauma were in town and I went down to catch them play at a house in Coberg. These photos are a handful from the night that only begin to hint at how ridiculous the night was.

MASSTRAUMA

Fingers managed to get smashed with a raw sausage. This is just one of the photo I have of him smeared with snag. More may appear over time.

This is some Gummo shit going on here.
NOTE: The death of this cat was due to being run over by a car, none of the people there are sick enough to kill a cat, unfortunately Fingers is sick enough to pick it up and pose for photos with it.

MATTRESSTRAUMA

The fun times. After the show the lounge room was briefly turned into a mattress wrestling event TJ and Aleshia amongst others went hard out. This was much more out of control than it appears in these photos... fun times.

Fuck... I'm Dead

Gore grind seriously is a silly genre of music... I am a fan of Fuck... I'm Dead but I have to laugh at dudes in thier mid thirtys behaving like this at thier Missing Link instore.

Jay jerkin' it.

Pisschrist in the flesh.

While up in Sydney I ran into artist and frontman of Smash n' Grab, Spider. He now has a crazy Pisschrist logo tattoo'd on his neck. Brutal!

Municipal Waste Ripping Through Australia.

When I got back from the Pisschrist tour it was straight on to a few shows with Municipal Waste. They had some awesome shows and it was a blast. Unfortunately I only got a couple of site worthy photos...

This Sydney crowd shot seems dated already.

Phil gets brutal.

Ryan unleashes the axe.

The Waste stop off at the Giant Koala for a battle... the Koala got wasted.

5 Things I'm Listening To.

Ok, with very little explination this is what I have been listening too (note: this is about 5 of 50 things currently on rotation in earshot of my head).

Dialing In - Cows In Lye
(Pseudo Arcarna)
Some killer drone, thanks AM.

Saviours - Crucifire
(Level-Plane)
This shit is cheesey as all hell but after seeing these guys a few times earlier this year these riffs have been staying with me.

The Focus / Amateur Party - Split CD
(Missing Link Records)
Ok, so I had a pretty big part in this release coming together so I am totally bias. Killer melodic indie punk half from Melbourne, Austraila, half from Philly, PA.

Criminal Damage - Criminal Damage
(Feral Ward)
For some reason this has become my favorite punk album of recent times. Catchy stuff.

Well, I seriously didn't think I would like this at all, even hesitated on listening to it and even though i do refer to it as Kravitz On Fire I gotta say it's great.

Pointless Fest 2005... ahh the memories...

For the past couple of years I have been a very happy attendent of Philly's Pointless Fest. I was kinda bummed that I was missing this years Fest but my compensation was that I had Municipal Waste down here on tour and I was seeing some of the most fun shows Australia has experienced in a while.

So, while at this great Melbourne show with Municipal Waste, Blood Duster, Agents Of Abhorrence and Dad They Broke Me at the wonderful Arthouse we recieved news that Pointless Fest had been shut down. Which totally sucks, there is an account of sorts of the events at the R5 Productions site if you want to read about it (note: you should visit this site to see all the rad shows that Sean and the R5 crew put on in Philly).

So... the photos, from Pointless Fest and surrounds 2005:

Municipal Waste tearing up the stage at the Church.

Scott Moore of Limp Wrist sexing it up on the dancefloor after one of the shows.

Tristan (Schifosi) and John (Fighting Dogs) hitting up the Mexican and cheap margaritas after the show (note: they are both wearing Forward t-shirts that match the colour of their drinks!!!)

Steve of Inepsy busts out his penis tattoo "abuse".

Look Back & Laugh playing a awesome basement show with Drop Dead, Asshole Parade & Schifosi. This was a little ways out of Philly (I forget the name of the town). LBAL are so damn good!

Briushanah & Ryokuchi

I have just a couple of good photos from when these awesome Japanese sludge bands came to town.

This one is of Ryokuchi they are a two piece, and they play killer epic sludge songs with Eastern scales.

This one is of Birushanah, they play sludge, noise rock with 2 metal percussionists which makes for a amazing live show.

Piss Stains Across Europe Part 5: More Random Moments

This shot of Dave is the best i got of him in Europe.

Piss stop in Switzerland.

Sunburned from a day at the beach in the Basque Country.

Jimmy sparking joints after a long night.
